Ofenschlupfer (recipe for an ovenproof dish measuring approx. 25 x 20 cm, serves approx. 4-6 people)
Ingredients:
- approx. 250-300 g dry bread rolls, old yeast plait or toast
- 3 eggs, size M
- 330 ml milk
- 80 g sugar
- 400 g apples
- 50 g raisins
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Fat for the mold
Preparation:
- Grease the mold. Preheat oven to 175 degrees top/bottom heat.
- Cut the cookies into thin slices.
- Whisk the eggs with the milk and half the sugar.
- Place the pastry slices in the mixture and leave to stand for approx. 10 mins.
- Peel and dice the apples, mix with the cinnamon, remaining sugar and raisins.
- Layer the pastry slices in the tin, then add an apple layer, followed by another layer of slices and so on, finish with pastry slices and pour over the remaining egg milk.
- Bake for approx. 40 minutes, covering occasionally if the casserole is getting too brown.
